V8BIKE was conceived in the late 70's strictly as a hobby project but with the goal in mind of building a practical and user-friendly motorcycle. The engine chosen was the 215 cu in. Oldsmobile all aluminum V8 which at 300 lbs. is the lightest V8 made. The drive, transmission, and chassis were all professionally engineered (by John Strickland, Mechanical Design Engineer) and designed specifically for motorcycle application with simplicity and ruggedness. The 3-speed manual foot shift transmission with hand operated clutch functions identical to standard production motorcycles. Several years and thousands of miles of testing have yielded a very reliable and practical and fun motorcycle.
